BMW is all set to launch the F 450 GS, a mid-capacity adventure motorcycle, on April 23, 2026, for the Indian market. The price is yet to be announced, but it is most likely that the ex-showroom price will fall between 4 lakh and 5.5 lakh in Indian rupees.
Internationally, it is available in four variants: they are Basic, Exclusive, Sport and Trophy. The India launch will also happen in multiple trims. In the Indian market, it is set to compete with CFMoto 450MT, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure.
Gets A 420cc Engine
The BMW F 450 GS comes with a 420cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine featuring fuel injection and ride-by-wire (e-gas). The power output is 48 hp at 8,750 rpm, which is tuned for strong mid-range and usable top-end, and torque is 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm, which helps in off-road riding and city usability.
It gets a six-speed manual transmission; low gears help with the off-road control and high gears with relaxed highway cruising, and it comes with a quickshifter (Shift Assistant Pro) featuring clutchless gear changes, which improves acceleration and riding comfort.
The acceleration timing for 0-100 km/h is 5.9 seconds, and top speed goes up to 165 km/h, which is ideal for highway overtakes and touring with luggage. It features a 14-litre fuel tank and has a mileage of 26 kmpl, while the range on a full tank is 364 km.
Equipped With Quad-LED DRLs
Up front, BMW’s F 450 GSit gets Quad-LED DRLs, inspired by its sibling, the R 1300 GS, which give it a premium look as well as ensure better visibility during the nighttime, a signature GS beak design and a tall windscreen.
At the sides, it gets high ground clearance, which makes the off-roading convenient and also helps in navigating easily through the speed breaker; it has a muscular fuel tank that gives a modern look and a slip-seat setup for a comfortable seating posture for the rider and pillion.
The back features a compact LED tail lamp with a modern design, which reflects its tough and rugged styling, and an integrated rear rack for touring practicality, which helps in easy installation of saddlebags, a top box and tail bags.
The length, width and height are 2161 mm, 869 mm and 1465 mm, respectively, giving a good road presence. The seat height is 845 mm, which can be adjusted to as low as 830 mm and up to 865 mm, so the rider may find a comfortable riding position.
Features ERC
The kerb weight of the F 450 GS from BMW is only 178 kg, quite light in the segment, and helps with easier handling in traffic and off-road trails. It gets an easy-ride clutch, reduces clutch effort and also improves low-speed control and is useful in city traffic and off-road slow riding.
Its ergonomics are designed to make long rides comfortable and also provide good control on rough roads, as it features an upright riding posture and wide handlebars. The front and rear brakes are 310 mm disc and 240 mm disc, respectively, and the front suspension is 43 mm USD forks, but the rear one is a monoshock.
It comes with four different ride modes; the first of them is Rain mode, which helps in providing better grip in wet conditions. The second is Road mode, which results in making the daily riding comfortable. Enduro mode helps with better off-roading, and Enduro Plus ensures better off-roading, and it also has Traction Control, Engine Brake Control, Cornering ABS and Switchable rear ABS.
There’s a 6.5-inch TFT display, which shows speed, RPM, gear position, fuel level and trip info; for connectivity it also includes Bluetooth, which works with the BMW Motorrad application. The display also shows turn-by-turn directions on screen, SMS and call alerts, and is capable of controlling music on the phone.
