Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Spotted Testing Before Launch: What’s New in Design, Features & Performance

The facelift of the Volkswagen Virtus was recently spotted testing; it is set to be launched for the Indian market in the near future. The updated version is going to be introduced with many design and feature changes. The powertrain is to remain the same as the outgoing model, but may come with a new gearbox.

Reports say that Volkswagen may introduce the facelift of Virtus in May 2026 with an affordable price to stay competitive. It is likely that the ex-showroom price for the standard variant will start from ₹12 lakh and go up to ₹18 lakh for the top trim. Its biggest competitor in the Indian market remains the Hyundai Verna.

New LED Headlights Likely

The updated Virtus is most likely to get a new grill in front to enhance its upfront look and make it more catchy. The facelift is expected to replace the LED headlights used in outgoing models with a new and modern design, which will give better visibility at nighttime. It may also get a redesigned bumper with sharper edges to give it a bold stance.

On the sides, the mid-size sedan is set to get new alloys with updated designs, which give a sporty and modern look and also improve efficiency. It’s set to get a clean shoulder line, which means the coupe-like silhouette from the outgoing model is retained. The stance is also expected to be improved, which will further enhance its road presence.

The rear is certain to get new LED taillamps, which are going to make its back profile strong and catchy. The bumper in back is to also be updated; the new one looks more rugged with a premium finish. The tailgate design is the same as the outgoing model, but with rear changes it looks more modern and sharp.

Level 2 ADAS Expected

The interior features a spacious cabin, the same as the outgoing model of the Virtus. The facelift is all set to get a refreshed dashboard design with new colour themes. Now, the cabin is built up of high-quality, premium-like materials and soft-touch elements to ensure comfort and convenience even during the long drive.

The new version of Virtus is likely to get an updated 10.1-inch touchscreen for infotainment with an updated operating system. It will also feature a new screen for the digital instrument cluster with a better user interface. For connectivity, it gets wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and multiple USB ports.

The front seats are to remain ventilated, and maybe powered too. The rear seats continue with AC vents, but the facelift may come with a massage function. To ensure smoother driving, it is expected to get the Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and a set to feature six airbags that ensure the safety of all occupants.

Features the Same Dimensions

The Volkswagen Virtus facelift has the same dimensions as the outgoing model. It is 4,561 mm long, features a spacious cabin with a seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3, and also features a boot space of 521 litres and can easily carry 5 big pieces of luggage. The second-row seats are foldable, which expands the cargo space up to 1,050 litres.

The width of 1752 mm gives ample shoulder room for all rear-seating passengers and also improves its road presence. The height of 1507 mm results in giving good headroom for all occupants, and the wheelbase of 2651 provides excellent legroom. The ground clearance of 179 mm is good for tackling the Indian road conditions and navigating through the potholes and speed breakers.

8-Speed Automatic Transmission Probable

The facelift of VW Virtus comes with the same powertrain. It is set to get a 1.0 litre TSI Turbo Petrol, whose displacement is 999 cc and features 3 cylinders; and a 1.5 litre TSI EVO Turbo Petrol engine, whose displacement is 1498 cc and features 4 cylinders. Refer to the table for more information about it.
