Yamaha is all set to launch the updated YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 in Japan on May 28, 2026, with the prices of JPY 690,800 and JPY 726,000. It will be introduced with cosmetic changes with no updates in specification or features. Before the launch, the Japanese automakers confirmed that these two lightweight motorcycles will be introduced with three new colour options.
New Colour Options
The updated YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 from Yamaha will come with racing blue as one of the colour options. It reflects the brand’s iconic racing rivalry; it gets the combination of blue and black panels. Wheels at both ends are blue, and they add a sporty touch, and lettering is present in white with subtle aqua graphics.

The second colour option is all-black, featuring a full glossy blackout design. The fairing, fuel tank and engine casing come with a glossy finish, and stickers are present in a subtle grey colour. There’s also a colour option of light green, inspired by the Y2K fashion trend. The base colour is light green; the fairing, tank and fender feature red accents; and the rest of the body is matte black.
Features & Technology
The updated YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 come with a fully digital instrument cluster, which includes an LCD display featuring a speedometer, tachometer, gear position indicator and trip meter and fuel gauge with a clear and easy-to-read layout. It results in giving a modern and sporty cockpit feel.

It also gets dual-channel ABS, which prevents the wheel from locking during sudden braking, and an assist and slipper clutch that prevents rear-wheel hopping when more than one gear is taken down. It comes equipped with LED headlights and taillights, which provide better visibility at night and also give a modern premium look.
Suspension & Brake
The 2026 Yamaha YZF-R3’s and YZF-R25’s both front and rear brakes are disc, whose diameters are 298 mm and 220 mm, respectively. The brake added to the front wheel provides strong stopping power, and the rear helps in better balancing and control.

It features upside-down telescopic forks as front suspension, which not only improves stability at high speed and but also gives better front-end feel while cornering; and rear suspension is mono-cross rear monoshock that provides better comfort on rough roads.
Dimensions
The updated YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 measure 2090 mm in length, 730 mm in width and 1140 mm in height; these dimensions make them slim and compact and also make them easy to handle in city traffic. The wheelbase is 1380 mm long in segment; it features better high-speed stability and smooth straight-line riding.

The ground clearance is 160 mm, making it ideal to pass the speed breaker, and a seat height of 780 mm gives a comfortable seating position for the individual with the height of 5’5” to 5’10”. It runs on 17-inch wheels, which are wrapped with 110/70 and 140/70 tubeless tyres in front and rear, respectively.
Powertrain & Performance
The YZF-R3 comes with a 320cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, which generates the power of 42 PS at 10,750 rpm and torque of 29.5 Nm at 9,000 rpm. It features a six-speed manual gearbox, and the YZF-R25 gets a 249cc, liquid-cooled DOHC parallel twin-cylinder engine whose power output is 35 PS at 12,000 rpm and 23 Nm at 10,000 rpm.
The YZF-R25’s acceleration timing of 0-100 km/h is 7.5 seconds, its top speed may go up to 173 km/h, and its real-world range is 25-30 kmpl; the YZF-R25 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds, its top speed is 180 km/h, and its real-world range is also 25-30 kmpl.
